DPNA for adults

“Flying with Autism” was originally set up for families with children on the autism spectrum. However, there are also many adult passengers with autism. For this group as well, there are options to reduce sensory stimuli before, during, and after flying.

DPNA Assistance

For adult passengers requesting DPNA assistance, the conditions differ from those for families traveling with children.

-
Adult passenger with autism traveling alone
This is generally possible, but there is an important requirement: the passenger must be able to understand and follow safety instructions. This is essential for flight safety. This question will be asked when you request DPNA assistance. If you cannot meet this requirement, someone who does meet it must accompany you.
-
Adult passenger with autism traveling with a companion
DPNA assistance can also be requested for an adult passenger traveling with a companion. Please clearly indicate on the application that you are traveling together, so the crew knows not to separate you or assign separate seats on the plane.
To increase visibility, you can wear the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower keycord.
DPNA Button
Since DPNA is an international IATA code in aviation, it is recognized worldwide.
We recommend purchasing the special DPNA button for your flight to enhance recognition at the airport. This helps ensure extra understanding during security checks, passport control, and on board.

The button is easy to attach to a keycord or your clothing using the clip & pin on the back, and it is available in our webshop.

Using DPNA Assistance
If your DPNA request has been approved, report to the Axxicom assistance desk in the departure hall at least 2 hours before your flight. You will be assigned a personal assistant.
Clearly communicate your needs. Your assistant will guide you through the queues to the gate.
When boarding, you will receive priority. Make sure to inform the crew on board that you are a DPNA passenger and share any specific requirements.
DPNA assistance can be requested through your travel agency or directly via the airline.
